Most couples spend months planning the ceremony and the reception. The send-off gets about twenty minutes of thought, usually somewhere around the six-week mark when the coordinator asks what you want to do for your exit.
Count us in the camp of feeling like it deserves more attention than that. The grand exit is the last photo from your wedding night, the one that ends up in the album’s final spread, and at Pecan Springs Ranch the property gives you a few different options depending on your guest count, your style, and how the evening has gone.
Here’s what your send-off can look like at PSR, and how couples decide which version fits their night.

The sparkler exit is one of the most popular send-offs at Pecan Springs Ranch, for good reason. The stone terrace outside the main building is where it often happens, and it’s a perfect backdrop for the occasion. Guests line up on both sides of the flagstone path, sparklers raised, and the couple walks (or runs, or stops for a dip kiss somewhere in the middle) through the tunnel toward the drive.
What makes this work at PSR specifically is the backdrop. The ivy-covered exterior wall, the glass gazebo structure with the chandelier visible through it, the string lights running through the trees beyond. It’s a lot of visual texture at night that photographs well without needing additional lighting setup. The venue does a lot of the heavy lifting, and the photos always turn out looking incredible.

A few practical notes worth knowing before you plan it: 36-inch sparklers are the standard recommendation for exits because they burn longer, giving your photographer more time to work with. Your coordinator will handle the logistics of getting guests lined up and sparklers lit without the couple seeing, so the exit feels like a genuine surprise even when you’ve planned every detail of it. Timing matters too, of course. Most exits happen between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. when the sky is fully dark and the sparklers read clearly in photos.

Some couples follow the sparkler exit with a getaway car. At PSR, the gravel drive lined with live oaks gives this a specific Hill Country character that a parking lot exit can’t replicate: the trees are lit at night, the gravel crunches, and the car disappears into the dark in a way that photographs like a movie still.
A vintage convertible is the version that photographs best here, and a few rental companies in the Austin area specialize in exactly this. A classic car moving slowly down a gravel drive under oak trees is one of those details that looks effortless in photos and takes about thirty minutes of planning to pull off. Worth it.
The car exit works best as a second beat after the sparkler tunnel. The couple walks the sparkler exit, gets in the car, and drives off while guests are still holding their sparklers. It gives the photographer two distinct exit shots and gives guests a longer send-off moment rather than a single quick run.

The send-off lands the way it does because of what happened in the three or four hours before it.
PSR’s reception hall has polished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to the lit grounds, and white ceiling draping that keeps the space feeling open. It’s a room that handles a quiet first dance and a packed dance floor equally well: the acoustics work, the space scales, and the glass doors mean guests can see the lit property behind the couple during the first dance, which is a detail that shows up in photos without anyone planning for it.
The dance floor moments at PSR tend to go late. The combination of the space, a good DJ, and the fact that nobody has to drive far to get back to their hotel (several options are a short drive toward Austin or Dripping Springs) means guests stay and the energy is high until the very end. By the time the coordinator rounds everyone up for the exit, the room has had a few hours to build to it.
That’s what makes the sparkler tunnel work so well. It closes out a night that was already at full volume, as opposed to trying to revive one that was winding down.

If you’re in the early stages of planning and want to see the stone terrace and the drive in person, a property tour gives you a much better read on exit logistics than photos do. The scale of the terrace, how the drive curves through the trees, where guests naturally gather at the end of the night…these are things that are easier to picture once you’ve walked them.
