A disco wedding isn’t just about the music or the aesthetic. Some weddings are beautiful. Some are fun. And then, every once in a while, a disco theme wedding comes along that manages to be both at the same time. It’s the kind of wedding where guests are still talking about it months later, still describing it to friends who weren’t there, still wishing they could go back and live it all over again.
Lauren and Chris’s wedding at Pecan Springs Ranch was exactly that kind of day. A disco wedding theme wrapped in boho warmth. Terra cotta and pampas grass sharing space with mirror balls and a checkered dance floor. Beer donkeys with wicker baskets trotting down a sun-drenched path. A bride in a short white dress, laughing like she couldn’t quite believe her luck. It was singular. It was joyful. And it was perfectly, completely them.

When most people hear “disco wedding,” they picture something campy, maybe a little over the top, heavy on the sequins and silver. Lauren and Chris had something far more interesting in mind. Their disco wedding theme was grounded in the earthy warmth of boho design, then punctuated with the high-glam energy of the disco era. The result was a wedding that felt genuinely original.
The ceremony arch told the whole story: towering arrangements of dried pampas, bold anthurium in deep burgundy, and cascading terra cotta and blush roses…earthy, sun-bleached, and wild. Then you’d catch a glimpse of a disco ball tucked into the florals like a secret, catching the Texas afternoon light and scattering it across the grass. That contrast (organic and electric, vintage and vibrant) became the heartbeat of the entire day.

Inside the reception hall, the disco wedding decor reached its full expression. A classic terra cotta and white checkered dance floor anchored the space beneath exposed dark timber beams strung with crystal chandeliers. Above the head table hung a wild installation of dried palms and pampas, with cascading mirror balls catching every flicker of candlelight. It was the kind of room that makes guests stop in the doorway and just stare.
Lauren’s choice to wear a short wedding dress was one of the most talked-about decisions of the day, and it was absolutely right. The mini silhouette had a quiet confidence to it, a refusal to be swallowed up by tradition for tradition’s sake. It moved beautifully during the ceremony. It looked extraordinary against the boho florals. And when Lauren hit that dance floor later in the evening, it was clear she’d made exactly the right call.
There’s something wonderfully fitting about a short dress at a disco theme wedding—it nods to the era, yes, but more than that, it communicates something about the couple: they’re here to celebrate, to move, to be fully present. Lauren embodied all of that from the first moment she walked down the aisle.

Let’s talk about the beer donkeys.
Because if you were at Lauren and Chris’s wedding, you already know that no photograph, no description, no retelling of the day would be complete without mentioning the moment this couple strolled down a sun-dappled path at Pecan Springs Ranch, each holding the lead rope of a donkey, each donkey carrying wicker baskets loaded with drinks for their guests.
The beer donkeys arrived adorned with garlands of greenery, their baskets brimming, the whole scene lit up by the golden hour Texas sun. Lauren was laughing genuinely and Chris looked like the luckiest man in any state.

It’s the kind of detail that only works at a certain kind of venue, one with land, with character, with enough breathing room to let a truly original vision come to life. Pecan Springs Ranch, one of the most distinctive and unique wedding venues in Austin, Texas, is exactly that place.
Outdoor weddings carry a certain magic that no indoor venue can fully replicate. The ceremony beneath a canopy of pecan trees. The cocktail hour on a sprawling lawn as the sun begins its golden descent. The way the evening air softens everything, the music, the conversation, the laughter so that the whole night feels wrapped in something warm and unhurried.
Lauren and Chris’s outdoor wedding at Pecan Springs Ranch made full use of every inch of that landscape. Guests mingled on the grounds during cocktail hour as the couple stole away for portraits. They had the ranch’s barn and white farmhouse visible in the background, string lights beginning to glow as the sky shifted from blue to amber. The photographs from that hour look like something from a film.
For couples considering outdoor weddings in the Austin area, Pecan Springs Ranch offers something rare: the freedom of a wide-open natural setting, paired with the infrastructure and amenities to make sure everything runs beautifully regardless of what the Texas weather decides to do.

For all the personality and playfulness of the day (the disco wedding decor, the beer donkeys, the energy of a full live band setting up behind them), Lauren and Chris’s first dance was something quieter and more tender. Two people, in the middle of a checkered dance floor, surrounded by everyone they love, moving slowly together while the rest of the room held its breath.
That’s the thing about a truly well-designed wedding, it can hold both the high-energy moments and the soft ones. It can be a disco theme wedding that also makes you cry during the vows. It can be funny and sweet and gorgeous all in the same afternoon.
Pecan Springs Ranch made space for all of it. That’s what it does.
If Lauren and Chris’s day speaks to you, if you’re drawn to the idea of a vintage wedding aesthetic that doesn’t take itself too seriously, a space where dried palms and disco balls can share the same ceiling, and a venue where something as gloriously unexpected as beer donkeys can happen without missing a beat, Pecan Springs Ranch is your place.
The best weddings are the ones that feel unmistakably like the couple who planned them. Lauren and Chris gave their guests a day that no one will forget, not because it was perfect in a catalog sense, but because it was perfectly, completely theirs.
Your love story deserves the same. Come see what’s possible.
